Why gold? Why not stone?

The Sathya Sai Central Trust seems keen on installing a gold idol of Baba near his tomb.

This craze for idols of gold is an inheritance from Buddhism.

That rich cricketer Sachin Tendulkar offered to gift a gold-plated silver idol. He might not have anticipated that there would be persons and institutions crazier and richer than himself.

The Ashram, according to information made available on the Internet, already has a larger-than-life size gold statue of Baba.

India is a poor country. Does it need another gold statue, just for the sake of worshipping?

The Sathya Sai Central Trust, if it wants the world to believe that the information available on the net is just bunkum, then it must place on its Official website the complete list of the gold objects in Baba's (or his Trust's) possession and the manner in which the Trust is going to preserve them / or dispose off.

The existing gold statue (if it really existed) is a fait accompli. This can be used to recollect Baba's image into minds. The Central Trust can discourage the foreign donor from sending another gold statue.

The Central Trust can go for a granite statue, if the current existence of a gold statue in the Cellar of the Ashram, is just a canard.
