Producing goods like gold chains, lockets, falluses, from thin air or from mouth is nothing but black-magic. The fraud becomes culpable when the performer knows that it was impossible to produce goods from air or mouth and he deliberately produces them by sleight of hand. Question : We come across a clamour for renaming the 'Ananthapur District' in Andhra Pradesh (the District in which Puttaparti Prashanti Nilayam is situated) as 'Sathya Sai District'. Can we support this idea? Some of these were great deserving persons like Tanguturu Prakasam and Amarajivi Potti Sriramulu. Some others were just politicians like Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy. The Sathya Sai Central Trust seems keen on installing a gold idol of Baba near his tomb. This craze for idols of gold is an inheritance from Buddhism. That rich cricketer Sachin Tendulkar offered to gift a gold-plated silver idol. He might not have anticipated that there would be persons and institutions crazier and richer than himself. The Ashram, according to information made available on the Internet, already has a larger-than-life size gold statue of Baba. India is a poor country. Does it need another gold statue, just for the sake of worshipping?
